Express-AM1 satellite fails

Russian satellite operator RSCC has announced the failure of Express-AM1.

The satellite, which was placed into orbit at 40° East in 2004, has suffered a failure that makes it impossible to keep its orbital incline.

Express-AM1 carries nine C-band transponders, 18 Ku-band transponders and one L-band transponder with a footprint that covers the European part of Russia, CIS, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and India.
