Ofcom greenlights DTT capacity release

UK communications regulator Ofcom has approved a plan by UK public broadcaster the BBC and transmission and technology company Arqiva to jointly offer spare UK digital terrestrial TV capacity to interested parties.

Ofcom has laid out the procedures that must be followed in offering the capacity, which has become available on one UK DTT multiplex already and will become available on another after the completion of digital switchover in 2012.
