CSA to call for new digital-terrestrial channels

French media regulator the CSA has decided to launch a new call for candidates to launch pay-TV services and free HD services on the country’s digital-terrestrial platform.

The CSA plans to call for applicants to launch three pay and two free HD channels before June 30.

The move follows the CSA’s public consultation last year on the use of spectrum released by the withdrawal of pay-TV channels AB1 and Canal J from the digital-terrestrial platform and on the use of spectrum freed up by digital switchover.
