Comstar-UTS moves forward with Ivanovo MMDS deployment

Russian service provider Comstar-UTS has begun the second phase of the pilot rollout of MMDS-based digital-terrestrial TV in the city of Ivanovo.

Comstar is distributing decoders for the service, which it says will increase the number of channels available from 22 to 33, via its official dealer’s chain of stores in the city. The digital service is distributed to a 20km radius of the transmitter. Currently about 5,000 households in Ivanovo receive MMDS-based TV out of a total of 76,000 households receiving either cable or terrestrial TV.
