World Skies launches SES-1

SES World Skies’ latest satellite, SES-1, successfully launched from the Baikonour Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 17:49 on Saturday.

SES-1 will replace the AMC-2 and AMC-4 satellites at 101° West. It carries 24 C-band transponders and 24 Ku-band transponders of 36 MHz capacity each and has been designed to have a minimum expected service time of 15 years.
