ITV weighs move for Five

ITV, the UK’s largest commercial free-to-air broadcaster, is considering a move for its smaller counterpart Five, according to weekend press reports.

ITV’s new CEO Adam Crozier started in his new role today and the weekend reports suggest that he thinks consolidation in the UK TV sector is “inevitable”. RTL-backed Five has been linked with a tie-up with public service commercial broadcaster Channel 4 for some time and RTL management is on the record as saying cooperation or merger with other broadcasters should be considered.
