Eutelsat delivers new HD channels from Eurobird 9A

Satellite operator Eutelsat has announced that classical and jazz music channel Mezzo Live HD and sister channel Mezzo SD have launched on the Eurobird 9A satellite.

Mezzo Live HD content includes operas, classical concerts, ballets and jazz concerts, with 270 hours of new programming and at least ten live events broadcast in the first year. It was announced yesterday that the Sundance Channel HD had also launched on Eurobird 9A. Eutelsat said it expects to launch a range of new HD channels on the satellite in the coming months, including Trace Sport HD.

Separately, Eutelsat and ACS Angola, a suppliers of IT solutions and corporate network connectivity, have signed a five-year contract for capacity on Eutelsat’s W7 satellite.

ACS Angola’s new lease, for 45 MHz of capacity, boosts resources already deployed since 2005 on Eutelsat’s W3A satellite. It will enable the company to expand its commercial service to public agencies as well as businesses operating in the energy, financial and manufacturing industries across Angola.
Launched in November 2009, W7 provides Ku-band coverage to all countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
