SES expands African presence

Satellite operator SES World Skies has signed a capacity agreement with pay-TV operator Wananchi to deliver new DTH and IP services throughout East Africa, including to Kenya.

Wananchi has secured three transponders on World Skies’ new NSS-12 satellite to launch a DTH platform and VSAT-delivered, IP-based communications solutions including internet access and voice-over-IP. Set to launch in September, Wananchi’s DTH platform is expected to offer 80 channels by the end of the year.
