Chellomedia has acquired Teuve, the bouquet of cable channels operated by Spanish cabler Ono. The MSO had said it was inviting offers for the channels business early last year and a range of international players were reportedly interested.
Chellomedia, the content division of Liberty Global, said the channels will be integrated with those of its Iberian division, Chello Multicanal. It already operates a seven-strong group of channels in Spain, including Decasa, Odisea and Canal Hollywood. It also operates several joint venture channels, including Historia and Bio.
Adding the Teuve offerings will take the bouquet to 20 channels. Collectively, the Teuve channels account for 16% of pay-TV viewing in Spain.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
