Vivacom sells 50% of broadcasting division

Bulgarian telco Vivacom has signed an agreement to sell half of its broadcasting division National Unit Radio and TV Systems (NURTS) to investor Mancelord Limited.

Vivacom said it had applied for approval from the Communications Regulatory Commission for the deal. It will use any income from the deal to develop its digital network. “NURTS needs a financial injection that will help us implement our strategic investment program associated with the introduction of digital television and radio broadcasting. This transaction will help us turn the company into a nationwide modern multiplex service provider,” said Vivacom CEO Bernard Moscheni. Bulgaria is committed to meeting the EU’s requirement that all analogue signals are switched off by 2012.
