French pay-TV broadcaster Canal Plus and its free-to-air counterpart M6 have, separately, outlined plans to launch gambling services.
Canal Plus is teaming with UK bookmaker Ladbrokes to launch a 50/50 joint venture online betting service with each party contributing 2.25m. Ladbrokes will provide technology and gaming expertise and Canal Plus marketing and media services.
RTL-owned broadcaster M6, meanwhile, has teamed with Mangas Gaming to launch online poker and sports betting services Mangas-owned gaming brands BetClic and Everest are seeking the relevant licences for the new service, which will see online services hosted by well-known M6 presenters.
