Mediaset to launch news channel

Mediaset has announced that it will launch a news channel. According to Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the company’s deputy chairman, it is likely that the channel will initially be launched on the internet.

“We are still looking at the issue, but it is highly likely that we will start online,” Berlusconi said in an interview posted on the Mediaset website.

Separately, Mediaset has said it will appeal against regulator AGCOM’s sanctioning of the TG5 news programme for lack of balance in political coverage.
