LG ups 3D forecasts

Korean consumer electronics giant LG has upped forecast for sales of its 3D TV sets.

Speaking at a press conference in South Korea, management said that it expects to sell about one million 3D TV sets this year. It had earlier forecast sales of 400,000 sets. The company is targeting a 25% share of a market it said will comprise 3.8 million sets in total by end-2010.

LG is talking to pay-TV operators in Europe and North America to gauge the level of demand for 3D sets in these regions. LG is the second largest manufacturer of flat screen TVs and said it has held discussions with DirecTV in the US and BSkyB in the UK
