The UK government has announced the launch of a new UK space agency, UKSA. Science minister Lord Drayson has also announced the establishment of a £40m (€45m) International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) in Oxfordshire.

Satellite operator Eutelsat said it welcomed the launch of UKSA and the UK government’s recognition of the role that satellite broadband could play in bridging the digital divide.
