Yes selects NDS for progressive download

Israeli pay-TV operator Yes has selected NDS’s VOD service based on progressive download (PDL) technology for its hybrid satellite-IP DVR.

Yes subscribers can download a movie or series to their MaxTotal HD DVR over the open internet to watch immediately or view later. The operator now offers access to 5,000 free and pay VOD title, including HD content, with plans to upload hundreds of new titles each month.  NDS said its PDL technology removes the buffering problems associated with low bandwidth to deliver uninterrupted viewing. Once enough content is cached, the viewer can start playback and any remaining content is downloaded in background mode.
