Mediaset plans new services

Italian broadcaster Mediaset reportedly plans to launch three new digital-terrestrial channels and an online on-demand service this year.

The three channels will be a younger version of Italia 1 (under the working title Italia 2), a news channel and a third channel, La5.

Marco Giordani, chief financial officer of Mediaset, has reportedly said that Mediaset Premium will break even this year with about 4.5 million subscribers and an average revenue of €120. Giordani also said that Mediaset was developing an over-the-top offer for the internet but has not decided whether the service will be free or pay-TV.
