Disney has eyes on Russia

Disney is looking to launch its kids network Disney Channel in Russia. This comes one year after Russian authorities barred the Hollywood studio from acquiring Russian broadcaster Media One TV.

The company has applied for a licence to run the kids channel via cable in the country and would air a mix of international series and local productions. Disney has been expanding its presence in the region and has recently produced local movie The Book of Masters in association with Russian producer TriTe.
