EBU calls for simplified copyright system for online content

The European Broadcasting Union is calling for a simplification of the copyright clearance system for audiovisual content online.

It presented the findings of a white paper, Modern Copyright for Digital Media: Legal Analysis and EBU Proposals to the European Parliament this week.  The EBU’s proposals are, it said, designed to facilitate the EU-wide online licensing of audiovisual content while also recognising exclusive arrangements, specifically for movies and sports.
