NBC Universal thematic channel Sci Fi will launch in high definition on UK MSO Virgin Media next month. The HD service will roll out on April 13. It is expected to be rebranded from Sci Fi to Syfy by the time it launches. The channel is operated by NBCUs Universal Networks International division.
The cable operator is also launching a set-top that allows customers to access HD channels. The V HD Box, manufactured by Cisco, will cost a one-off £49 (Â54).
Virgin Media recently announced that HD channels from Discovery, Eurosport, ITV and Film 4 will soon be added to its HD line-up.
