Dutch cable operator Ziggo has withdrawn plans for CI Plus certification for Philips TV sets manufactured before this year, according to local reports.
CI Plus enables cable operators including Ziggo to deliver digital services direct to TVs via a conditional access module, obviating the need for a set-top box. However, it appears that Philips and Ziggo have decided that the certification process for older sets would take too long, and the pair have decided to focus exclusively on Philips 2010 range of models.
