BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British public broadcaster, has acquired the 40% stake in DVD company 2entertain that it currently does not own.
The company has paid £17m (18.8m) for the stake following year-long negotiations with the administrators of high street retailer Woolworths, which went bankrupt in 2009. The commercial division said that the deal was funded entirely from the company’s assets and did not draw on licence fee cash.
