Satellite pay-TV operator Sky Italia may be allowed to launch channels via Italys digital terrestrial television service by the end of the year, according to reports.
European Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia is set to make a decision on the move by the News Corp-owned pay-TV broadcaster in the coming months. Rival broadcasters Mediaset and Rai have both publicly opposed the move, which will bring forward the date that Sky Italia could launch on DTT by two years.
