The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), satellite operator Arabsat and technology provider Newtec have signed an agreement for the expansion of the MENOS (Multimedia Exchange Network Over Satellite) IP-based TV and radio content exchange network on Arabsat 5A, due to be launched soon.
Under the terms of the deal, ASBU, Arabsat and Newtec will be able to provide additional contribution and exchange services to new and existing customers on the network.
In addition to expanded Ku-band FSS capacity, the services will make use of new extended Appendix 30BÂ Ku-band transponders and the partners will construct a new earth station at the ASBU facility in Algiers to operate on the expanded frequency range.
