Swisscom doubles IPTV subs base

Swisscom doubled the number of IPTV subscribers during 2009, ending December with a total of 230,000, compared with 118,000 a year earlier. The number of DSL broadband access lines in Switzerland rose by 47,000 to 1.8 million.

The growth in TV subscribers means the Swisscom TV (formerly Bluewin TV) service ended the year with a 17% share of the digital TV market.

Swisscom reported full-year revenue of CHF12bn (€8.2bn), down 1.6% year-on-year. EBITDA was CHF4.7bn, down 2.6%.
