Spanish media group Prisa is not planning any more deals with Italian broadcaster Mediaset. In an interview with Italian newspaper La Stampa, Prisas CEO Juan Luis Cebrian said Âthe merger finishes hereÂ.
The comments follow the decision taken last December by MediasetÂs Spanish broadcaster subsidiary Telecinco to take majority control of PrisaÂs free-to-air channel Cuatro and take a 22% stake in its pay-TV platform Digital Plus in a Â1.05bn deal.
Despite debts of about Â5bn, Cebrian also said the company had no plans to sell the 57% stake it holds in Digital Plus.
In the same interview, Cebrian said he would like to collaborate with Digital PlusÂs minority shareholder, Telefónica, to launch HDTV services.
