Telenor loses subs as revenues rise

Telenor’s pay-TV unit Canal Digital lost 11,000 DTH subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2009, giving it a total of 1,060,000 at the end of December. The operator also lost 4,000 cable TV subs leaving it with 729,000.

Canal Digital revenues increased by NOK29m (€3.6m) year-on-year to NOK1.7bn, however, mainly as a result of higher sales of additional services for cable subscribers and price increases for DTH. The operator added 16,000 cable TV internet access subscribers during the quarter, giving it a total of 246,000.

EBITDA was up NOK69m to NOK190m.
