Comstar acquires Yaroslavl operator

Russian service provider Comstar-UTS’s subsidiary for the regions, Comstar Regions, has acquired Yaroslavl-based operator Tenzor Telekom for RUB220m (€7.28m) including net debt of about RUB32.7m.

Tenzor Telekom is the leading alternative telecom provider in Yaroslavl, with about 23,000 subscribers including 22,000 residential households and about 1,100 business customers. The operator provides telephony and broadband services via a fibre-based Ethernet network.

The acquisition is in line with Comstar’s strategy of establishing a presence in cities with populations over 100,000. Yaroslavl, in central European Russia, has a population of about 600,000. The company said it would develop telephony, broadband and TV services in the city.
