TeliaSonera grows TV subscriber base

Nordic telco TeliaSonera’s TV subscriber base grew by 141,000 in the course of 2009 to reach 798,000 by the end of the year. The figure included 620,000 IPTV subscribers, up 59,000 during the last quarter, of which 29,000 were in Sweden.

TeliaSonera said that about 26% of its broadband customers now take IPTV. The company’s broadband base stood at 2.348 million at the end of the year, up 64,000 year-on-year but down 3,000 in the last quarter. TeliaSonera said it also strengthened its position in IPTV in the Baltic states, despite the economic crises experienced by those countries.

The non-IPTV portion of TeliaSonera’s TV customers comprises cable subscribers in Denmark and Finland.
