Conseil d’Etat reverses France Télévisions ad ban

France’s Conseil d’Etat has annulled the measures mandating the removal of advertising on pubcaster France Télévisions’ channels between 22.00 and 06.00.

The minister of culture last year wrote to France Télévisions demanding the change even before the law mandating it had been passed by parliament. The Conseil d’Etat’s ruling followed a petition by a group of left-wing senators that arguing that the way the measure was forced through represented an abuse of power by the executive.
