Intelsat reports anomaly

The Intelsat 4 satellite (IS-4), located at 72° East, experienced an anomaly on February 1, at approximately 00:18, according to operator Intelsat.  It said it was working with the satellite’s manufacturer Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems to identify the cause of the problem, and with affected customers to identify restoration capacity.

Launched in 1995, Intelsat 4 was expected to reach its end-of-service life later in 2010.
