Saudi Comedy Channel receives licence

The Saudi Comedy Channel (SCC) is the first satellite pay-TV channel to be awarded a broadcasting licence in the country.

The channel, which is run by producer Amir Al-Hamoud, has been awarded the licence by the Ministry of Culture and Information for an initial three year period. Riyadh Najm, deputy minister, said that the government is also considering bringing in new television and radio legislation in the near future.
