KPN nears one million TV subs

Dutch telco KPN ended 2009 with nearly one million IPTV and DTT customers.

At the end of the fourth quarter, KPN had a total of 970,000 TV customers, up from 775,000 a year earlier.  Of those, approximately 90,000 took IPTV services with the rest receiving the telco’s Digitenne DTT service.  IPTV coverage reached 80% of the network by the end of the year, with 70% of the network capable of delivering HDTV. TV ARPU stood at €8 at the end of the year, up from €7 a year earlier.

KPN had 2,540,000 broadband subscribers, up slightly from 2,536,000 a year earlier but down 10,000 quarter-on-quarter. KPN said the upgrade of its network to VDSL would be complete by the second quarter of 2010.

Fourth quarter revenues stood at €3.4bn, down €0.2bn year-on-year. EBITDA was €1.3bn, up from €1.2bn a year earlier.
