UPC Netherlands to offer Disney On Demand

Cable operator UPC Netherlands is to become the first Dutch service provider to offer Disney On Demand.

The new service will be available from February as part of the operator’s programme of adding new video-on-demand services. UPC expects to add a Discovery on-demand service soon, and to grow the number of branded VOD services to about 20 by the end of the year, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Fox Life.

The cable operator signed an agreement with Disney last year that included a carriage deal for Disney Channel in analogue and digital, to be followed by the launch of new channel Disney XD in a channel share arrangement with local service Veronica.
