Satellite operator SES has acquired the Protostar 2 satellite and will integrate it into its World Skies fleet to provide incremental capacity over Asia.
SES was selected as the successful bidder in yesterdays public auction for the Prostar 2 satellite with a US$185m (Â127m) all cash offer. Built by Boeing, the satellite carries 22 Ku-Band transponders and 10 S-band transponders. It was launched in May and is expected to provide at least 15-years of operational service.
