Russia unveils DTT plans

Russian authorities have unveiled plans to roll out the country’s digital terrestrial television network.

It will start to roll out the first multiplex next year with eight free-to-air television channels and three radio stations in 12 regions of the country, followed by rolling it out in 27 more regions in 2011 and 2012, and 39 further regions including Moscow in 2012 and 2013. The initial investment will total RUB12bn (€273m). Following these rollouts it will then look to launch high definition services and mobile TV by 2015.
