French ISP Free has launched a fibre-to-the-home network in the Valenciennes region in northern France.
Free is offering its Very High Speed service for 29.99 per month. It offers unlimited internet access with a download speed of 100Mbps and uploading speed of 50Mbps. Also included in the price is access to a roaming WiFi network with three million hotspots, unlimited phone calls to landlines in 100 destinations including mainland France, access to more than 160 TV channels and video-on-demand services including HD programming to two TV sets and a DVR.
The first rollout phase covers the northern half of Valenciennes. By the end of 2010, the FTTH network will cover the whole of inner Valenciennes.
