France 3 to launch new local web TV services

French public broadcaster France 3 is to launch 24 local web TV stations as part of an overhaul of its regional networks.

The changes, which are due to be implemented in January, will see the launch by France 3’s 24 regional services of new information and magazine programmes as part of the development of 24 web TV services including the channel’s own output, content aggregated from third-parties and cogntent supplied by users themselves and editorialised by France 3. The system of financial support for the new services has still to be worked out, but the use of advertising has not been ruled out, according to local reports.
