3 to launch mobile SVOD

British mobile operator 3 is to launch the first mobile TV subscription video-on-demand service.

The SVOD service will allow 3 customers to watch entire episodes of comedy and drama series via their mobile phones. The company, which hasn’t announced details of its content deals, will charge subscribers £5 (€5.50) per month or £1.49 per day for unlimited access to shows. The service is run by Mobix Interactive, part of the Seachange-owned On Demand Group.
