Sonera acquires 4G licences

TeliaSonera’s Finnish arm has been awarded frequencies that will allow it to build a super-fast 4G mobile broadband network in the country.

Sonera aims to start building its next-generation network immediately and to open it to pilot customers by the end of the first quarter of next year. TeliaSonera has already trialed 4G in Stockholm and Oslo. According to Sonera, the new network will enable it to deploy advanced services, including interactive TV, more easily.
