Gilat takes additional Intelsat capacity for Africa

VSAT specialist Gilat Satcom has signed a multi-year deal for the renewal and expansion of capacity with satellite operator Intelsat for its African business.

Gilat has renewed its contract for capacity on Intelsat 901 and Intelsat 702 at 342° East and 66° East respectively, and has made pre-launch capacity commitments for capacity on Intelsat 14 and Intelsat 17, to be located at 315° East and 66° East respectively. Gilat has also begun offering services from Intelsat 1R at its current orbital location and has contracted for additional capacity on the satellite when it is moved to 310° East following the launch of Intelsat 14. Gilat will use Intelsat’s Fuchsstadt facility in Germany to host its broadband platforms.
