IP Vision, which supplies a hybrid digital-terrestrial receiver and IP and DVR-enabled media centre under the Fetch TV brand, has signed a deal with UK retailer Carphone Warhouse to sell its SmartBoxes.
The SmartBox provides free access to web video services, including the BBCs iPlayer catch-up platform and selected content from Channel 4, Sky Sports News, Discovery Channel and CNN. IP Vision also recently announced a deal with pay-TV operator BSkyB that will bring its SkyPlayer platform, which includes premium content from the Sky Sports channels, Sky Movies and various on-demand programming, to the FetchTV service in early 2010.
The SmartBox will retail for £199 (Â221) in Carphone WarhouseÂs wireless stores and will be available later this month. This is the second retail deal signed by IP Vision following a deal with John Lewis earlier this year.
