Cabovisão facing tough competition

Cogeco-owned Portuguese cable operator Cabovisão ended August with 102,753 digital TV customers after adding 23,456  during the quarter. However, the operator lost 5,381 basic cable subscribers, giving it a total of 259,480.

Cabovisão ended the quarter with a total of 732,375 RGUs. Revenue decreased by US$11.9m (€8m), or 18.6%, to US$52.2m, which Cogeco put down to the ‘difficult competitive environment and intense promotions and advertising initiatives from competitors in the Portuguese market’.
