Orange nears three million TV subs

France Télécom/Orange had 2.9 million digital TV subscribers across its IPTV and DTH platforms at the end of September, a 63% increase year-on-year.

In France, digital TV subscribers numbered 2.547 million, up 59% year-on-year. The Orange sport and Orange cinema series channels had a total of 596,000 subscribers at the end of September, compared with 130,000 at the end of 2008. The operator recorded 5.8 million downloads from paid video-on-demand services over the first nine months of 2009, an increase of 68%.

In Poland, the number of digital TV subscribers more than doubled in the nine months to the end of September, to 283,000.

France Télécom/Orange saw strong growth in ADSL broadband  with 13.4 million customers at the end of September, up from 12.7 million a year earlier.
