Free bids for 3G licence

 Free Mobile, a subsidiary of French broadband provider Iliad, has applied to telecom regulator ARCEP to bid for the country’s fourth 3G mobile licence.

Iliad could be the only bidder after all other companies that had expressed interest, including Numericable and Virgin Mobile France, dropped out. Candidates for the licence must apply by the end of today.
