ARCEP launches very high-speed broadband consultation

French telecom regulator the ARCEP has launched a consultation on access to the local-loop and its impact on the development of very high-speed broadband services.

The ARCEP said the aim of the consultation, which runs from now until November 23, is to allow it to come up with a set of conditions for effective implementation of local-loop unbundling for very high-speed services.

Meanwhile, the French government has launched an appeal for the submission of proposals to invest €30m of European funds in projects to develop broadband services in rural areas. Submissions must be made by January 31, with the successful applicants to be notified by May.
