PT’s Meo passes half a million subscribers

Portugal Telecom has signed up over 500,000 subscribers to its Meo digital TV service. The number, which reflects an extremely fast growth rate for the Portuguese telco, with almost double the subscriber base at the same point last year, represents 64% of the company’s ADSL base.

Second quarter net additions to the service were above 57,000. Portugal Telecom offers Meo over a mix of ADSL2, fibre-to-the-home and satellite, and delivers the same service to TVs, PCs and mobile phones. The operator also provides video-on-demand, with over 2,000 titles on offer, catch-up TV, DVR and interactive services.
