Media Capital sees revenues fall

Portuguese media company Media Capital recorded a fall in revenue of 6% to €194m in its third-quarter financial results.

The company was hit particularly hard at its free-to-air broadcaster TVI, which saw advertising revenues fall by 17% to €105m. The channel maintained its solid ratings lead but still saw its audience share reduced from 36% in 2008 to 35.1% this year, while public broadcaster RTP1 increased figures from 27.4% to 29.1%.

Media Capital’s TV production arm saw a 5% growth in revenues caused mostly by the acquisition of Spanish producer Plural Entertainment last year.
