Cyfrowy Polsat to test DVB-H service

Cyfrowy Polsat is to carry out a pre-market assessment of mobile TV services with DVB-H operator Info-TV-FM.

The Polish DTH operator has signed a letter of intent with Info-TV-FM with a view to testing DVB-H services on a group of its customers. The mobile operator launched its DVB-H platform in September after winning a frequency tender organised by the Electronic Communication Office and became a wholesale operator for mobile TV services. Under the terms of its licence, Info-TV-FM is not allowed sell its services to end-users and is offering the platform to mobile operators. The company is aiming to cover 10 cities with the DVB-H signal by the end of this year and 31 by the end of 2011.

Cyfrowy Polsat operates as an MVNO using Deutsche Telekom’s infrastructure.
