M6 launches on-demand and catch-up services

French commercial broadcaster M6 is moving forwards with plans for on-demand and catch-up TV services.

The broadcaster is launching M6 Bonus, offering highlights from the main channel, and M6 VOD, a pay service offering the last season of series on the channel for €5.99 a month, today, while a catch-up service for the W9 music channel, W9 Replay, will follow on November 9, according to local reports.

Separately, M6’s CEO Nicolas de Tavernost, has said that he believes the worst of the advertising downturn is over. De Tavernost told the Reuters news agency that the broadcaster’s third-quarter advertising revenues, which will be published on November 5, would indicate that the climate was becoming more favourable. M6 saw its advertising revenues tumble by 14% in the first half of the year, less than the 23% drop experienced by rival TF1.
