CanalSat expects modest growth for Swiss service

French pay-TV operator CanalSat expects to sign up between 12,000 and 13,000 subscribers by the end of the year to its service for the French-speaking part of Switzerland, according a report in Swiss newspaper La Tribune de Genève.

The figure is less than the 17,000 originally predicted when the service launched in October last year. According to the report, about 3,000 homes receive the premium Canal Plus service, while a further 8,000 receive one of a number of services provided by CanalSat. The service was offered as a substitute for illegal or semi-legal reception of satellite signals from France.
